Bob "Hellboy" Larson

I wrote on a previous occasion about Bob Larson’s annoyance with my pastor who had, during a joint TV interview with Bob, basically called his views on demons and possession kooky.

Just when we thought Bob Larson had done all he could to embarrass the Christian faith he takes it up a notch and surprises us once again.

From Hip and Thigh reader Roger,

Exorcist to star in reality show

Bob takes “putting on the full armor of God to the next level.” A Sci-Fi channel original production, Bob has a television show going in which he hunts down demons in a Constantine like fashion and battles them in spectacular displays of spiritual warfare.

Maybe he will employ some really cool weapons, like a cross gun.

Or maybe a holy water super soaker.

I haven’t seen any of the episodes yet, but I am sort of hoping for a “seven sons of Sceva moment” on behalf of Bob when he comes across some foul spirit with an ill temper who puts a whomping on him and Bob has to flee from the house naked. And the entire moment of course is all captured on tape.

  1. Larson is one of the biggest frauds and con artists more interested in money than anything else. Basically Peter Popoff with a bit more attitude.

  2. Yes, Fred, the way to exorcise a demonic is to fill a squirt gun with holy water and fire away. It’s a pity that the seminary curriculum is so deficient in the basics of spiritual warfare! :-)

  3. I remember way back in 1993,I think, Cornerstone magazine exposed this ‘full of baloney’ phony, for the lover of money he truly is.Carl nailed it:”Larson is … more interested in money than anything else.”But he’ll probably make tons of $$$ from people, who, how should I say, are ignorant.

  4. Larson was not only exposed by Cornerstone Magazine but also by CRI (Christian Research Institute), KCBD-TV (the NBC affiliate in Lubbock, Texas which interviewed a number of Larson’s audience members who admitted to having been exorcised more than once by Larson, at different cities — see: http://www.canadianchristianity.com/cgi-bin/bc.cgi?bc/bccn/0799/larson), World Evangelical Press, and a whole host of others. Larson’s “Talkback” program used to be heard on hundreds of radio stations but once documented allegations of fraud on many different areas of his “ministry” as well as personal issues began to surface, his contributions dwindled causing payments for airtime to be missed (lots of stories of Larson’s temper with radio station PD’s abound over this one topic) and therefore less radio stations aired his program. Now he’s pretty much limited to shortwave radio and internet broadcasts. He has a little TV program that’s aired by only a handful of outlets. So this chance of appearing to a national audience via an exploitation program was obviously too good to pass up giving Larson some much desired income and also giving him exposure he craves. He’ll probably use this to try to restart his old radio program career especially if the TV show proves successful. If Bob Larson was ever truly a God-centered believer, it seems that now his world is now money-centered and self-centered.
